About The Event

About The Play

EARL’S COURT WALKING TOURS
Walk the streets of Earl’s Court or wander at will through Brompton Cemetery, experiencing poetry, song and history with geolocated sound that automatically plays as you walk. For those who would like to tour remotely, there is also a virtual listener option. The audio walk is compatible with desktop or laptop computers, tablets and iPads, iPhone and Android, using a modern browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari).

AN EARL’S COURT WALKING TOUR (approximately 1 hour)
This circular walk starts and ends at West Brompton Station, Old Brompton Road, London SW5 9JX. Follow the suggested route indicated by a yellow dotted line, walking anti-clockwise from point A to point B.

A BROMPTON CEMETERY WALKING TOUR (approximately 1 hour)
This walk starts outside the gates of Brompton Cemetery at the North Lodge Entrance on Old Brompton Road and ends at Café North Lodge. Wander through the cemetery at will using the grave index to help find your way. To start the tour, activate the blue square by walking into it – or, for remote listeners, by dragging and dropping the remote listener icon.
Some of the graves featured in this tour are off the paths. For those listening in person who want to get close to these graves, navigate using your geolocation and the grave number. It may also help to look at the images in the pop-ups, as grave locations are approximate. When going off the path, please be careful as the terrain is uneven. Also good to know – you can pause your audio at any time.

WALKING THE TOURS IN PERSON
These leisurely walks require a mobile device that is GPS enabled and headphones. There is no need to download an app, just click on the map of your choice when at the location. To maximise your experience, we recommend:
1. Headphones
2. Location services are enabled – then allow SonicMaps to use your location
3. Downloading the tour in case the device goes offline via the download button (far-right button on the taskbar)
4. During the walk, do not refresh your browser
And a final top tip: scrollable pop-up screens occur along the route at places of interest. We recommend you pause a while to listen and read. To close the pop-up and return to the map, select the image button (2nd button on the left of the taskbar). To re-open the pop-up, press the image button.
Disclaimer: In doing this walk, you are entirely responsible for your own safety and that of any accompanying children and/or pets, and we accept no responsibility for any personal accident, injury or public liability. Please be aware of your surroundings and use pedestrian crossing where available.

WALKING THE TOURS VIRTUALLY
It is also possible to access the tours virtually. The virtual walk requires a suitable device, speaker or headphones. Drag and drop the remote listener icon into the circles and oblongs to experience the walk. Along the way, a pop-up window will appear at places of interest. Once you’re finished reading the pop-up window, select the image button on the task bar below to close the pop-up. To re-open the pop-up, select the image button once more.
