About The Play

How well do you know the people you love?

Katie and Roni were best friends, until they weren't.

Now Katie’s brother is dead, and the two girls unexpectedly find themselves together again – in his bedroom.

Tonight they’re going to tell each other the truth.

Because the truth will set you free – won’t it?

A claustrophobic, unexpectedly funny new play about friendship, lies and the things we can’t say to the people we need most.

First developed with support from HighTide, 1.17am… now receives its world premiere, following a critically acclaimed sell-out preview run at Theatre503

Reimagining Grief: Complex Memories

A post-show discussion Thursday, 26 February 2026, with bereavement specialist Dr Meherangiz Press and playwright Zoe Hunter Gordon, who first met when Zoe attended bereavement service CWBISS. Grief is never straightforward.  But it's more complex when we have our own grief challenged by the different memories of others. How do we move through these feelings, and what role is there for creativity?

Free to ticket holders of that evening’s performance.

Dr. Meherangiz Press is a Counselling Psychologist with a special interest in the intersections between philosophy, psychology and politics. Existential psychology with its emphasis on the human condition is a mainstay in her work. In 2019 she published her doctoral research on the experience of grief in Syrian refugees in the UK. As a passionate advocate of social justice and mental health, she was a TedX speaker in 2015 on the topic of battling the stigma associated with psychotherapy.

Meherangiz grew up in Mumbai, India, and now lives in London where she works in the NHS within physical health conditions, and also run a small private practice. Everyday she works alongside her clients, whom she considers the true heroes of their own unique stories. She believes that there is something particularly courageous about even acknowledging the experience of grief and feels perpetually honoured to be able to witness clients approach it, work through it, and live with it.
