The UK Premiere of the acclaimed one woman play
Sundays and Mondays, 3, 9, 10, 16 and 17 December 2007
See Bob Run is a journey into the world of a teenage runaway who calls herself Bob (“Nobody ever called me Roberta, ever”) as she hitchhikes across the country. Bob presents her life as a warped fairy-tale, but it seems that she is fleeing from a very real act of violence. Is she travelling toward true sanctuary or merely a delusional safe haven? All profits from this production will go to the charity Crisis which fights homelessness and empowers homeless people to fulfil their potential and transform their lives.
Written by one of Canada’s most successful playwrights – and hugely popular in North America - See Bob Run now receives its long-overdue UK premiere at the Finborough Theatre, well known for its championing of Canadian drama. It is the second of MacIvor’s one person plays to be presented there, following the critically acclaimed House in 2006 - “This is a tour de force.” Lyn Gardner, The Guardian. “Daniel MacIvor’s curious, bracing, unsettling monologue” Fiona Mountford, Evening Standard
Playwright Daniel MacIvor is a stalwart of the Canadian theatre scene, having written and directed numerous award-winning productions including See Bob Run, Wild Abandon, 2-2-Tango, This Is A Play, The Soldier Dreams, You Are Here, How It Works and A Beautiful View. The Press on See Bob Run
“Kira Lauren has that rare and precious talent of being totally convincing as her character...It is a testament to the quality of Kira Lauren’s acting that one never felt the absence of other actors; an hour spent watching one woman onstage, and my attention never wavered.”
Tanith Lindon, Extra! Extra!
